Han Sang
Located at 420 Broadway in Millbrae, CA, Han Sang offers a delightful experience for anyone seeking authentic Korean cuisine in a welcoming environment. The restaurant's spacious interior is clean and well-organized, with a cozy atmosphere that invites diners to enjoy their meals in comfort. Despite occasional service delays due to high traffic, the restaurant staff is generally friendly, and the food more than makes up for any minor lapses in attention.
Han Sang is particularly known for its rich and flavorful soups. One standout dish is the Sam Gye Tang, a ginseng-infused broth served with a whole chicken, perfect for a cold day. The soup is light and aromatic, with the added delight of rice inside the chicken, resembling a comforting porridge. Another popular choice is the Gal Bi Jjim, a fall-off-the-bone beef short rib dish that's tender and juicy. For those who prefer something with a bit more heat, the Han Sang Bulgogi Soup offers a strong and sweet flavor profile, though it may be intense for some.
The menu at Han Sang also features a variety of other Korean staples, including the Sul Long Tang, a comforting beef broth-based soup served with tender meats like brisket, oxtail, tongue, and tendon chunks. The restaurant allows diners to adjust the seasoning to their liking, with options such as salt, green onions, and pepper to enhance the broth's flavor. The accompanying banchans (side dishes) are fresh, flavorful, and well-loved by regulars.
For those in larger groups, Han Sang provides excellent value with their combo platters, such as the bulgogi bibimbap and buchu jeon, a crispy leek pancake that complements the rich dishes perfectly. While it is a bit on the pricier side, the quality and authenticity of the food justify the cost. Plus, the restaurant's convenient location makes it a great stop after exploring nearby shops.
Han Sang Reviews
We were in the area and went to Han Sang for some dinner. They had many open seats, and the server immediately started to set up our table for us to sit. The place is decently sized, and very clean. All of us ordered soup. I ordered the Sam Gye Tang. It was a ginseng broth with a whole chicken. The soup was light and delicious, and I loved how I could control the seasoning. The chicken had rice inside, which was a nice touch. It was a little like porridge. The chicken was soft and tender. It was a great meal to be eaten on a cold day. The banchans were also so delicious as well. Our server was super kind, but they did seem a little understaffed as service was slightly slow. Overall, I loved the food here, and had a great experience!
A good spot for authentic Korean food, especially if you're a fan of beef broths. We came as a party of six (note: they charge an automatic 20% service fee for groups of six or more) and ordered the combo sul long tang (brisket, oxtail, tongue, and tendon chunks), chadol yangji sul long tang (sliced beef with white noodles), bulgogi bibimbap, and the buchu jeon (leek pancake). The meat in the soups was tender, and the broths are served unseasoned, allowing us to customize the flavor with the provided salt, green onions, and pepper. The buchu jeon was crispy and satisfying, and the bulgogi bibimbap was flavorful and well-prepared. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it hit the spot. We were so hungry we forgot to take pictures!
Nice, clean, and bright restaurant serving korean soups and dishes! My party of 3 ordered the galbijim and had leftovers. The meat was tender and flavorful from the sauce, and the glass noodles were super chewy and soaked up all the sauce. I still prefer Daeho's flavor profile for galbijim, as Han Sang is a bit sweeter, but still pretty good. They only have 3 banchan side dishes: cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi and fried fish cakes. I liked the kimchis. Service was attentive and fast. I would want to come back and try the soups. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 4/5 (pricey but decent portion)
Came here on a Saturday night around 6:30 PM and had to wait around 30 min before we were seated. The restaurant is pretty big and was very clean! Parking around here is relatively easy! We ordered the chadol suyuk and the bossam. The chadol suyuk is an unseasoned broth so when it comes you have to add salt and pepper to your liking. I do appreciate this so my soup isn't too salty which sometimes soups can be! The meat was really tender and went well with their dipping sauce. As for the bossam i think this was the star for me. The pork was very tender and it came with a nice amount of ssamjang and garlic and peppers to make the perfect bite. The staff were all pretty attentive and i will definitely be coming back to try some of their other items.
Service was okay. We came on a Friday night. We were sat in the corner at the front of the restaurant, but no one came to take our order for the longest time. They were busy... but I'm sure they forgot us. We resorted to raising our hand but we were so hidden in the corner they couldn't even see our raised hand! Finally one of the bus boys (is that still the term?) saw us and alerted one of the waitresses. (Thank you sir!) service the rest of the night was all right. We were checked up on more after. But we also had to flag them down to give us the check. Food. Gal bi jjim - we got the extra meat for 5 people. So good. The meat was fall off the bones meat. So delicious! Two of us weren't too hungry and it was just a tad too much for us. So... good for 5 I think lol. My friend ordered the chicken soup (sorry didn't catch the name) for the baby. Not as flavorful after eating the gal bi but I thought it was refreshing. I believe our 6th ordered the Han sang bulgogi soup. It is good, but I have to warn that the dish is very strong in flavor and also sweet. The area is great. Very busy and even some boba shops nearby.
